If it were any class that could have prevented me from pursuing electrical engineering it would be this one, yet it was also the class that helped me realize what I truly craved was to create and design technology!
This class was based primarily around reading published papers on various neurodegenerative diseases (Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, and other age-based diseases as well as some seemingly unrelated ones like Schizophrenia). We focused on identifying common patterns and differences in the neural paths and the symptoms of the various diseases in addition to studying the typical biological indicators of aging and methods that can accelerate or slow particular cognitive declines associated with older age.
We ended up conducting a research project and I got to present my findings during a poster exposition!
